Well this is actually a story of Joel if we think about it. I knew the plot and about it's structure before watching it so maybe that took away surprise element. In the beginning I was confuse, trying to figure it out hard.

Slowly I started grasping story and it felt funny, all that chaotic technical procedure until the scene where he is trying hard to save his last memory: first time they met and she says what do we do now and he says let's enjoy it. That scene filled my eye with tears. There is not much romance in this film but lot of conflict, internal and external.

I liked the character of Mary.Though she plays important role at the climax, we never realise what's coming when she is introduced to us. So technical, immersed in work and artificially doing her job as receptionist. Her character arc was most interesting, where earlier she admire Dr.Howard's work very much. But when she realise same procedure is being done to her, her reaction is different.I would love to see her story if part 2 is ever made.

Clementine's hair is used smartly to show the change in sequence. I also noticed how Carrier's character always doing something while scene plays. And the #Hindi songs in background, that was sweet surprise.

One more thing I want to discuss is dialogue. "Noone looks at me, pays attention to me." Joel says this while they exploring childhood memory. Though it is funny and chaotic scene that one line subtly give us sneak peek into what kind of childhood Joel must have had and how it's affecting his current relationship.
