Finally, the list of prompts for IZM 2022 were posted on Friday, July 1. So I didn't write about it before because as I said, I don't do shit on the weekends.
Some modifications are in order, of course, so here is the official list, followed by my own plans:
Days 1 and 2: I spent my weekend in Be'er Sheva, mostly sleeping and reading (a book, not zines). So I'm just skipping these prompts.
Day 3: There is a virtual event on July 23 that I want to attend. It also falls on a weekend, but at least I'll be in Jerusalem and it's at 20:00, so should be after my daughter is already in bed. Also, it's not specifically a zine event, but it's just as good - crafting oracle cards with other zinesters.
Day 4: Meh, not really inspired to do that... I think this will be a good time for me to do some brainstorming for my upcoming zines.
Day 5: I don't do reviews, but maybe I could use that day to offer trades. I'll try to find some zinesters who may be interested.
Day 6: I LOVE the Queer Zine Archive Project! I'll definitely check it out.
Day 7: Thursday is my free morning day. I think I rather use that day to look over my zine material and make a list of things I need to stock up on. If I have any left-over time and inspiration, I'll take some pictures of my zines and make a small and simple flyer for my Etsy shop clearance sale. Once in the office, I'll cover the Day 9 prompt and start working on my new shop on Ko-Fi.
Day 8 and 9: Weekend laziness. And anyway, I can never find any recipes in zines that I'd like to try. All of them are mostly vegan, which I have zero interest in. Maybe my kid would like to make a zine with me or something. I won't force it if she's not in the mood.
Day 10: As a message to zinesters, I could try to find more people to trade with. Then I'll continue working on my zines.
Day 11: Like I said, ALL zines I ever read are overseas ones so International Zine Day is irrelevant to me. I'll keep working on my zines or add some more things to my Ko-Fi shop if I'm not done yet.
Day 12: Yay ZineWiki Day!! I'll go and check my pages to see if they're ok and I'll see if I need to post a few more updates.
Day 13: Well I'm not a superstitious person but I bet I could bullshit my way into making up some ridiculous ritual related to zines or something. Could be fun!
Day 14: Free Thursday morning! And as I did last year, I'll give myself some ValenZine love by going to the office supplies store with the list of zine ammo I made the previous week and stock up on artsy magic.
Day 15 and 16: This is my weekend away in Be'er Sheva. More sleeping and reading is in order.
Day 17: I still love the idea of sharing a free zine online. I think I'll cover Day 15 prompt on that day, and then work on my zine catalog instead of a flyer.
Day 18: Already planning on covering that prompt on Day 5 and 10, so I'll continue working on my zines. I should try to aim for finishing up my writing part and start the layout on this day.
Day 19: I might check out some zine distros to order from... we'll see. Then I'll continue working on my zines.
Day 20: This is my 16th Aliyahversary. I don't know if I'll do something for the event like I did last year, but if I come up with a good idea for a zine/minizine, I'll write something up.
Day 21: No zine libraries in the area. Instead I'll continue working on my zines at home and then, when I'm in the office, I'll compile all the digital material I will need for the virtual oracle card event and email it to myself to have it ready for Saturday.
Day 22 and 23: Weekend downtime and do-nothing time. Until Saturday at 20:00 when I will try my best to attend the virtual event.
Day 24: Meh, nope. I don't want to learn a new zine skill. I'll keep working on my stuff.
Day 25: Well, I won't send my zine to review, but I hope to have my part of a collaboration zine done and send it off wherever I need to, or have the other parts sent to me in case I'm the one who needs to lay it out. It's a collaboration zine that I discussed with Henry Jaepelt from Brazil even before IZM started. We made one last year and it was awesome, so of course we decided to make another one again. I think Day 25 will be a good day to work out the final details.
Day 26: I rather organize my zine collection on Thursday when I have my free morning. So today I'll just keep working on my zine/catalog/website/ etc.
Day 27: See Day 25.
Day 28: Thursday morning, I'll organize my zine collection. If I come across any zines I forgot about, I may post about it online. Otherwise, work-in-progress.
Day 29 and 30: Weekend in B7, but maybe my kid could take a picture of me with my zine before heading out. She loves taking pictures so it could be fun.
Day 31: I'll write a roundup post, I'll unveil the cover pages of the new zines, I'll post a link to my new shop and close the Etsy store for good.
Stay tuned for my weekly roundup posts to be scheduled for publishing every Friday morning (Israel time).
Happy IZM fellow zinesters! Good luck to all for working the prompts!
Peace, love and new zines are the best!
