Only in this sickly era would dreary dearies think to drag racial obsessions into where they don't matter. Normal Brits surely find issues of 'enslaved Africans' supremely irrelevant to what they read to their children at bedtime.... . . ....but Emily Zobel Marshall, 'Reader in Postcolonial Literature, Leeds Beckett University... (Is that really a subject? Is that really a university?) ...seemingly likes to 'spend a lot of time tracing the roots of stories and examining the impact of colonial legacies on them...' God knows why!  But curiosity drove me to investigate, and here's just a little of what I learned. ooo   She looks exactly as one might expect! oo Dr. Emily Zobel Marshall's research is informed by Postcolonial theory and spans a broad range of concerns, including examinations of constructions of identity (in particular hybrid and liminal identities), race and racial politics and Caribbean carnival cultures. .. .............
