Today, apparently. This from the IFI:
As cinemas and audiences alike continue to adjust to the post-Covid world, National Cinema Day on Saturday, September 2nd, seeks to build on the success of last year's event, which saw over 200,000 cinema admissions.
Celebrating the intrinsic pleasure of cinema as a communal experience, it is both an expression of gratitude to those who have come out in such numbers to support cinemas since their reopening, and as a reminder and encouragement to those who have perhaps been more reluctant to come back to laugh, gasp, and cry with a room full of people sharing the same emotions.
Hmmmm... that's not necessarily my experience of cinema! Still, good on them.
Anyone marking NCD by going to a showing?
