Happy Memorial Day and a special thanks to all our service men and women for making America great and free. I have a 3-day weekend this week, so I am taking advantage of that. Now I had a busy day today as I am going to a friend's house for a Memorial Day BBQ which starts at 10am. I was looking forward to it as we have been friends for a long time and no he does not know about the other side of my life that I know of. Now I do wonder now with my nails if my other friends wonder of even notice. Now it was him and his wife, their 3 kids and some grandkids, so basically his family. It was a fun day and I do love BBQ, they had ribs and chicken. No one said a thing about my nails and pretty much didn't notice although I did notice his wife and 2 daughter kind of looking at me as I ate my ribs and wondered if they noticed my nails. We ate about 2:30 and had a great time. They do have a pool they put in a couple years back so after we ate everyone was invited to go swimming, but I couldn't. Normally it would have been my bright red toenails, but it is more than that as I have a very definite tan line from when I was in Palm Springs with Julie, so a little after 4 I thanked them for inviting me and left as I did want to be Susan for the zoom call.

I got home abut 4:30pm and decided to start getting ready as I figured there was enough time to go to the Starbucks by my house for an hour. I did my makeup and wore my long black summer dress; I actually have 3 of these that are pretty close to the same other than texture and sleeves length. I was all ready by 5:15 and took my usual group of pictures, yes, I take way more then I post as I only post the good ones. Well now that can't post my blog from Word anymore and have to do it in WordPress I have found the best look for the pictures are bringing up 2 in viewer side by side and using the sniping tool and saving them which actually works pretty well but it means I have to have an even amount of pictures so yes there is one here today that would have been cut otherwise.
I got to the Starbucks a little before 5:30 and went in and worked on my blog and some other things. yes it really was more about being out as Susan. I have said many times I am not big on dressing just to sit at home although with the zoom call it is a little different as I am interacting with others online but there is just something so relaxing and calming to be out around other people when I am Susan which is a big change as 16 years ago going out in public was an adrenaline rush and very exciting to the point when I got home it would take me a couple hours to calm down. I stayed here till 6:4 before going home to start the zoom call at 7pm.

I started the meeting, and it was a smaller group again, tonight we had 6, Jan, Lynn, Nicole, Sherri, me and Kitty well technically 7 as Kitty's mom also joined her on the call. Kitty was at her mom's house and her heat pump had gone out and as Jan works on them for a living, they had all kinds of questions and Jan was only too happy to help. Yes, for those of you who wonder what transgender people talk about it is the same things you talk about. It was nice to meet Kitty's om even if only on a zoom call. We also talked about Sherri's new boat her, and her wife just purchased and of course we all wanted to see it and if no surprise Sherri had pictures to share, it is a beautiful boat. Now I do wonder about these zoom calls though as our numbers are smaller as we used to get 8 to 10 and sometimes as many as 15. I would like to see more interest in them, I guess I am just thinking about it as I just got a notice it will go up on my bill in July, but I still think it is worth it. It is a great way to keep in touch with those who don't live locally and can't join us in person.
We had a wonderful time, and it was about 8:20 when some girls started to sign off and by 8:30pm I ended the meeting for the night. It was a good day. Now I am looking forward to Wednesday night's dinner at Thirsty Lion at Washington Square mall as I have never been there before. The group did go here once before but t was when I was visiting Julie in Palm Springs. I am also looking forward to next weekend, but it will be Sunday and Monday as I have to work on Saturday this week.
Thanks for reading my blog and sharing this part of my life with me.
