Say what one about the Sex Pistols but even putting aside the music in recontextualising the 1977 Jubilee they did a great service, one that means that this week - decades later - the current Jubilee cannot take place without some mention of that great howl of disdain still resonating. And it doesn't matter if Lydon or anyone else offers platitudes about it, something changed that year and in a way for the better.
Meanwhile caught about half the first episode of the Sex Pistols series. Was it any good? Well, it wasn't uninteresting, there was a certain energy to it. But some ropey performances didn't necessarily help. Perhaps it gets better, not sure if I've the energy to find out. What I did have the energy to do was to check out the original Pistols songs on YouTube like the above, and give them their due they're still something else. Youth liked it for what that's worth.
