So yesterday I asked for prayers in, "Pray For the 9th Circle", mostly prayers for the young man who in my opinion, is really being exploited and used by the City Council, the Mayor, and the transagenda. Continue to pray that the Lord finds him, makes His presence known to him, and leads him out of this chaos and into the light. With a great big welcome home hug, even.
But my other prayer request, prayers for the safety and well being of those standing up for what is right, have been answered! Near as I can tell there was no violence and these gentleman conducted themselves with grace and maturity, and perhaps even some Divine wisdom. I'm really grateful for their presence here and their willingness to come and challenge the entrenched narrative. Praise the Lord for His calming hand on a potentially volatile situation. On video I heard a whole lot of, "God bless yous" and I'm so glad I was watching at home, because every time I heard some passerby say it, it made me all teary.
Words have power, they set the tone, they fix the thermostat and determine what the environment is going to be. "God bless you" invites in His presence.
Huge, huge difference in police response, too. There were cops everywhere, barricades up, stores shut down, and they kind of corralled the protesters into separate areas with fences. They also seem to have removed all sticks, flags, protest signs, or potential clubs, and were asking for ID to make sure you didn't try to slip into the wrong group.
That's a good thing, it's just really disturbing to know that the police response was instigated because of political bias, because of rumor and innuendo that attempted to portray these people as dangerous and threatening out of towners, and alleged "proud boys." What a contrast to how the cops just stood by a few weeks ago while women were knocked around and assaulted and flags, bikes, and protest signs were flying.
I'm just idealistic enough to want to believe that the law should apply fairly to everyone, regardless of the politics involved. I've never seen evidence of that play out in real life, but I'm going to hold the thought just the same.
I'd share some video highlights, but as usual social media is so full of bovine poo you need hip waters just to get around. One of the organizers has just had his You Tube channel canceled and his back up taken down. Two other people taking video are now in Facebook jail, so citizen journalism can be quite a challenge in the age of censorship. You're just going to have to take my word for, the weather was lovely with a cooling breeze, the gentleman where calm and respectful, and I didn't see a single one finger salute.
It was beautiful.
No doubt our local papers will promptly bring us the story about how the, "Rally For Decency" was the most horrendous display of rabid right wing extremism ever seen with all manner of hate speech and assorted vileness, but that won't be true at all.
So God bless you all, and thank you for your prayers.
