Getting a new look with Permanently Straightening my hair #85

As many of you will know from my previous post that I have recently got my hair chemically treated. The previous post was all about how the procedure was and this is about how people responded to my new look.

How people reacted to my new look-

Now, this didn't go as I expected. My family, friends, and colleagues had mixed opinions. Most of them liked my hair - they said it changed my overall look for the better. But not everyone was supportive; some people took the opportunity to give me their unsolicited advice. They would say, "But your hair was already straight! You didn't need to do this." I know what I'm doing though - it might not be the wisest use of my money, but I think trying new things is important too.

Some people suggested that certain shampoos and oils could make my hair naturally straight. However, making hair naturally straight is like getting rid of body hairs without laser treatment: there are thousands of ingredients and life hacks out there on the internet but none of them really work out. I've spent half of my life watching those beauty videos where they wax a hairless hand or apply gross mixtures on hair to make it straight. If these methods were genuinely effective, there would be more positive feedback.

My personal thoughts:

It takes no time to get ready now and my hair is always frizz-free. I don't need to tie it up anymore because it's 100% manageable and doesn't look like a bird's nest. This has made me feel more confident about myself, regardless of any positive or negative reactions I receive. I'm loving it! I've become more attentive to maintenance by regularly applying oil and cleaning my scalp thoroughly. Although I haven't changed my shampoo (Dove), conditioner, or serum (just a basic cheap one), I am taking note of my hair fall and doing my best not to make it worse by avoiding combing when wet.

The last thing I wanted to tell you all is that we should periodically consider if we're giving ourselves enough time and care. The beauty treatment's sole purpose should be to make us feel good about ourselves. How confident we feel beneath our skin is more important than adhering to society's standards of appearance. Remember, you are beautiful! If you want to enhance your features, go ahead; but if you prefer staying as is, that's perfectly fine too! Don't burden yourself with anyone else's opinion.

That's all for today. Stay well folks. Much love! xo
