MUMBAI (India CSR): UPL Limited, a global leader in sustainable agriculture, has committed itself to social responsibility by funneling INR 80,09,700 into an extensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project in Gujarat's Narmada District. The Narmada Project, in the aspirational district, aims to significantly uplift the agricultural community, focusing on 5,000 small and marginal tribal farmers across 100 villages.
The three-year initiative focuses on sustainable agricultural practices, capacity-building, and entrepreneurship, aimed at improving livelihoods and community well-being.
UPL Limited's commitment to the Narmada Project isn't just an investment in agriculture or entrepreneurship; it is an investment in a sustainable, inclusive future. By focusing on some of the most vulnerable communities and providing them with the tools they need to succeed, UPL is setting a precedent for how corporations can and should engage in social responsibility.
Targeting the Vulnerable: A Closer Look at the Project's Objective
The core mission of UPL's CSR projects is to address the socio-economic challenges faced by marginalized communities. Working in tandem with these organizations, UPL plans to develop an effective agri-value chain. The ultimate goal is to expand the reach of this project to impact 10,000 tribal farmers across the district, thereby exponentially increasing the scale of its CSR initiatives in Narmada.
