Norway is a country high in gender equality where most women from the age of sixtie and younger have education and go to work. Too us these rights is something we take for granted, and we are well informed and would never go back to live like our formothers did, living in powerty having way to many children and being totally economically dependant of men.
The practical realiry for the majority of faithful catholics in Norway as well as in most European countries is that all married catholics do family planning where the women use hormonell contraceptions. Not doing so would be irrationell out of reason and bad both for womens health and ability to take education and work, for family economy, for the children being born, for the marriagal relation and the intimate life between man and women.
There is absolutely nothing given that God is a good God of reason that can underbuild an in any way justify the catholic teaching that using contraceptions is a sin, it can only be seen as a way of keeping women down under patriarchal controle and its devastating to women and children in poor less developed parts of the world where the Church have much more authoraty and where women do not have the same rights, possabilities, education and information as women in modern western Europe.
Normal reasonable Norwegian and European women use contraceptions with clear concious, we dont concider it a sin and hardly disagree on these teachings. But even if most keep quiet since its hard and out of cultural catholic customs to speak up against authoraties above in the church hierarky.
But no I speak up out of solidarity with women around the world that are not in such a lucky sitation as women in the modern well developed world where everyone has access to contraceptions and catholic women commonly use "the pill"
Cause out there in the world things are different and so many women and children suffer. The main cause of death for teenage girls on world wide level is death because of pregnancy and birth complications. These lives could have been saved if these girls had access to contraceiptions and if child marriages had not been a mather of fact. A teenage body is not fully developed to give birth so teenage pregnancy oppose a much grearer treath to life and health than for a women with a fully developed female body!
In Norway the norm is that we deliver our babies at a hospital and there there are high quality free/subsidised and good public health services for all independant on who you are and your private economy. The living conditions are in average good, our society is well developed, the level of education and knowledge is high and the hygiene standard in our society is in general very high.
In poor less developed areas in the world the living standards for the majority is low, the access to proper safe health care is just for the few and those who can pay or have a good health insurance. For poor women without access to proper health care living under bad condiitions with low hygienic standards maybe even without access to safe clean water and where there is a low level of education in average and much ignorance every pregnancy and birth also for adult mother oppose a serious treath to the life and health of both mother and child and serious birth damages like fistles is common.
When a poor woman because she has no access to contraceiptives and is married to a man that does not care and claims his right to sex deliver babies after babies from her first at young age getting no education she does not only damage her body, having to live with much pain and no pleasure from sex just fear of becoming pregnant over again. She is linked to the house doing hard unpaid domestic work and so totally depend on her man on the economical/material side no matter how bad the man is she is not in position to leave him.
Either she is married unmarried single divorced or widowed a poor woman with the responsability for more babies than she can feed, supply for and take well care of is in a miserable state and so are here children.
If these women had been given access to contraceptions from they where young they would have a better chance to get a job, make a living for themselves and it would have saved the lives of many women and children. Women would be more independant of men and it would contribute to improve not only womens health and quality of life but also improve the situation for the children she choze to have when she was ready for it, and it would improve family economy, more women would be able to work, there would be less powerty, less abandoned
