Dublin Communities Against Racism (DCAR) and Communities Against Racism Ireland (CARI) will join the Stand Together March, on Saturday 2nd March.
Assembling at the Garden of Remembrance at 1.30pm
Activists from across the country will distribute the attached flyer to encourage others to unite with us and challenge the far-right and racists who are trying to gain a foothold in working class and rural communities.
Our mission statement is very clear :
"We are a network of groups across the Island, from Derry to Kerry. We are part of a coordinated, community led response to far right hatred as we reclaim our communities from bigotry"
As Joe Mooney (DCAR) explained :
"People have a right to be angry with the Government parties and to demand better for their community. But if they were to listen to the liars on the far-right and start targeting refugees rather than those responsible they are playing into the Governments hands".
Helena McCann (CARI) added :
"Many areas have been all but abandoned by the Government parties, and as well as the housing crisis, lack of services and facilities plus the increased cost-of-living is hitting hard. But these are long festering problems, and scapegoating immigrants will do absolutely nothing to address them".
