The man, who is in his 40s, was arrested in Dublin city centre and is being detained on suspicion of road traffic offences. A white Transit van used in the incidents has been seized as part of the investigation. Gardaí have ruled out terrorism as a motive. And; The series of attacks on Government and State buildings and the home of the President began in the early hours of this morning. In the first incident, a man drove a van into the gates of Áras an Uachtaráin and then drove off. Gardaí there put out an alert while the van was driven to Customs House, where minimal damage was caused, before it was driven to Merrion Street where Government Buildings is situated. The van was driven into the gates at Government Buildings, the back entrance to Leinster House and the Office of the Attorney General, damaging the three gates. The gates at the AG's office were knocked its hinges. And: A man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and is being detained at a garda station in Dublin, where he can be questioned for up to 24 hours. ...
