Organizational History Network Position: BHC Web AdministratorThe Business History Conference (BHC) seeks applications for a Web Administrator, to begin October 1, 2024.Overview:The Web Administrator is responsible for keeping the website’s IT infrastructure in good working order. This includes maintaining secure accounts for BHC members and other users to enable interactive data sharing for the BHC community, such as uploading prize nominations or submitting paper or panel proposals to the Program Committee to consider for the annual scholarly convention. The Web Administrator reports to the Electronic Media Oversight Committee and the Digital Editor (who is responsible for developing and maintaining the content of the website). In sum, the Web Administrator supports the society's mission by enabling key stakeholders--executive officers and trustees, committees, members, and conference attendees--to reliably and securely access the information they need in order to successfully participate in and support the organization. Desired Skills:Knowledge of WWW security and compliance standards, principles of accessible web design, and data privacy and protection regulations is essential. Familiarity with at least one common website platform or content management system (CMS) is desired, preferably Drupal (our current system runs on Drupal 10), Wordpress, or SquareSpace. Strong communication and analytical skills are a must. BHC membership is required at the time of hire. Please note that the Senior Web Administrator will help the successful candidate learn the technical tools (e.g., setting up a development environment) and be available for support and guidance during the transition period. The technical skills developed in the role might help open up future opportunities with other organizations. Technical support is also available from the IT specialists at the BHC webhosting service. Hours and Compensation:This part-time position is compensated with an annual stipend of $3,500 (USD), plus travel expenses for the annual meeting. This position is a three-year term, 2024 to 2027. The organization hosts an annual scholarly conference (in-person) and multiple hybrid and / or virtual events per year, engaging a membership of nearly 500 individuals (approximately 35% of which reside outside of North America).
