I'm sure you have all heard the news for the tenth time in the past year that TikTok was threatened to be banned or shut down or whatever the hell happens to apps. Ironically enough I have heard most about the case against TikTok on TikTok so maybe there is some sort of bias? I don't know, just spitting out ideas. But for me, there is a chance the whole case is a waste of time and money because I don't know if the fight between TikTok and congress is going to end this TikTok phenomenon. I think there is another asteroid going to hit instead.

What is the court case about this time?

Through my research (not only from TikTok) this whole situation is about the US government fearing that TikTok is working with the Chinese government. That would be an issue because the Chinese communist government would require them to share any data, including users' data, with them which is obviously a violation of our privacy and, as is always stressed in the USA, our rights.

They also say that TikTok is impacting teens by promoting drugs and also playing a role in creating mental health issues. To be fair I could totally see that and that probably should be looked into.

Nonetheless, the Chinese government's involvement was the main subject of the case despite the fact that TikTok isn't available in mainland China and its headquarters are in Singapore and LA. I mean I'm sure they have their reasons for suspecting some sort of government alliance but I'm not sure what they are.

Has TikTok's time stopped tick-tocking?

The answer, however, is no. Or at least for now. It seems quite uncertain with no real solid answer to give, but for now, the app is still up and running in the US. But who is to say they won't face more allegations in the future? At least they are getting some good content from it.

If Not The Ban, What Will End TikTok?

This is obviously my own opinion, but I think you'll find it fairly convincing since it is completely true and it is that parents will be its killer. I say parents in particular because other adults wouldn't cause as much disgust to TikTok's current audience, teens.

In advance, I'm sorry if this brings you to dislike TikTok a little more but the other day I went downstairs and my mum had downloaded TikTok and was just scrolling through the videos. I find it hard not to think about that sad, sad moment but it changed me a little.

I asked her what she was doing in hopes it was just Instagram reels or some update on Facebook but then she said she had downloaded TikTok to which I asked "why?" and she replied, "I just wanted to see what all the craic was about".

First of all, you are probably 4 years too late. I mean I know you are always "so busy" but why must you start now?

Then a few days later I'm downstairs trying to eat my breakfast in peace when she literally comes in and destroys my morning by watching cooking videos with dance monkey in the background. And just the way she sits with intention like this was on her to-do list for the day really frustrated me.

TikTok is meant to be a nice relaxing thing and we can have fun inside jokes with people our age but now my mum is in on it?!

Let's just say I haven't been on TikTok that much lately. It's losing its flare for me now.

But yeah that is what I think will end the trend that is TikTok, so may it rest in peace along with Vine and Musical.ly (which I actually never used, had, or watched and sounded kinda cringy so I don't think TikTok would rest in that same position).
