My headline should have referred to 'Cambs,' not 'Berks.'
'Cambs' is the UK abbreviation for Cambridgeshire, 'Berks' for Berkshire...
...though berks is also the plural of berk, short for Berkshire Hunt and a very rude example of Cockney rhyming slang.
But to the issue, an on-going issue, alas...

Most British, especially English, people know well that Essex, Sussex and Middlesex were the lands of the East, South and Middle tribes of Saxons, and East Anglia speaks for itself.
