Kept this for Sunday to avoid distracting from the real TWIMBLT post.
One of the favourites of the family member with dementia is Deep in the Heart of Texas, and as it distracts them from the distressing run through of who is still alive and who has died, we will prompt it from time to time. During the week, the question came up about who sang it. The turned out to have an unusual answer. In 1942, five different renditions of the song charted in the USA.
First up was Alvino Rey and his Orchestra, which reached no. 1 in the Billboard chart. (It was recorded in 1941.)

Second was Ted Weems and his Orchestra, also recorded in 1941, with Perry Como singing, which reached 23.

The third rendition was also recorded in 1941, and it charted in 1942 reaching no. 11. It was by The Merry Macs.

Bing Crosby sings the fourth version, with Woody Herman and his Woodchoppers. We've moved into 1942 for the recording date. This rendition reached no. 3.

Finally, the fifth version to chart in 1942 was by Horace Heidt and his Musical Knights, and it peaked at no. 7.

Can't see something like that happening today.
