The last three days of IZM have been super unproductive, so not even worth writing about.
I think this entire month has been what my husband calls "dardaleh" - possibly a Yiddish term meaning weak or lame. It went by slowly, totally crawled by. All my plans for production have either been delayed or cancelled entirely for reasons beyond my control. Badass Zine Month turned Lameass Zine Month.
I did finish one zine at least - PMS Perzine issue 20. And I did make my daughter's zine template. She used it a bit and gave the zine a great name. I told her my zine is called "Purple Moon" so she named hers "Pink Sun" which she transliterated to Hebrew and wrote as one word. Then, she noted the fact that if she removed the Nun Sofit, it would read "Pinkas" which means simply "Notebook". Nice little play on words!
I didn't get enough free time to work on my painting. The only days I could were on Thursdays before a weekend where I didn't need to go to Be'er Sheva, and that's only once every two weeks.
Brazael & Israzil n. 3, although it progressed nicely throughout the month, finally needed to be put on hold due to health issues I rather not elaborate on. Once these will be resolved, I will complete the zine eventually. The material that is ready for the layout is fantastic, and it will be a shame to not complete it as a zine.
The mini-zine about moths, I finally decided to drop. I'm just not feeling it. And when I don't feel a zine, forcing myself to produce it just becomes a drag - definitely not the way a zine should be made.
So moving forward, I will keep working on my painting whenever I have a free morning. My kid just started her August daycamp, so I hope to continue my painting tomorrow morning as well as this Friday following my morning swim. This weekend, I'm not going to Be'er Sheva, so it should be nice and chill.
I will also continue working on B&I and will reveal the cover on this blog once it's done. I promise you, it's fucking amazing and will totally be worth the wait.
What you won't have to wait for anymore is the cover of the new issue of Purple Moon Spawn! Issue 20 is all about my trip to Madrid and the Rammstein show. You will soon be able to buy it from my Ko-Fi shop in PDF format, or trade with me for the hard copy. Check it out!
I think it turned out fine. Some of it may confuse some readers. So if you're from the US, just know that I use the 24-hour system, so when I talk about 1:00 or 2:00, this means AM, and when I talk about 20:00 and 21:00 and the like, it means 8:00 and 9:00 PM. Also, there are some words in both Spanish and German. So don't be confused and think that I'm an idiot who thinks that people in Spain speak German. They don't. It's just that after watching Rammstein live, I feel more compelled to toss around words in German and not in Spanish.
Coming up next on my life as a zinester - Zinetober in October and ZineWriMo in November. Two back-to-back months of zine awesomeness which I hope will be far more productive than this stupid July.
Peace, love and happy August!
