"Expired" is the name of a book written by Dr Clare Craig. It is available on Amazon. If you would like to see an interview with her, Dr John Campbell recently did one.
I really appreciate her voice, her narrative, her storytelling style. She simplifies complex things and puts them into a context we can all understand. Her book is very interesting and not dry and academic at all. Well worth reading. I highly recommend.
She has some emotional intelligence I'm really grateful for, too She wrote about how when covid first hit, she herself was afraid, she believed the narrative, she thought this must be very bad, after all, look at how the government is reacting. It took her a little while for the scientist within to start asking questions. She writes in a compassionate, non judgmental way, one that honors the nuance of our lives. ("Nuance" is my new favorite word in a world currently dominated by very linear thinkers.)
Some of the things she addresses I am already familiar with and have explored and researched myself, so she is not saying anything that isn't already out there in the scientific realm. Much of what she writes about is well documented, there is actual data to back it up, and she presents it in a user friendly way.
It is so ironic to me, but months before covid hit, I had to do some continuing ed on infection control. The background noise going on the whole time was that the state did not want to provide masks and gloves to homecare workers during flu season. Like, buy your own, it isn't in the budget, and they don't protect you anyway. So this class provided us with some actual science behind germ theory, the alleged ineffectiveness of masks, the dangers of gloves, droplets versus aerosols, what airborne really means. Respect the science, people, masks are completely useless.
Chuckling here, but I mention that so you will know I'd already learned long ago to be skeptical about the politics that often control and influence the ideology that we sometimes call "science."
A few months later the whole culture just flipped a 180 on me, gave me whiplash, silenced all the actual scientists, and introduced a "new science" one being completely made up along the way by computer models and data imputed by techies with no science experience at all. A lot of people didn't even question it, having no awareness at all, no reason to doubt the official narratives. Judging from the number of masks people are currently wearing in my neck of the woods, I'd say the general public has not even begun to unwrap what has happened and it is important that we do so.
The damage that has been done is immense, the harm caused by lock downs is staggering, but I'd like to focus on the positives and one of those bright spots is Dr Clare Craig's book. It brings some clarity to a difficult subject, and helps to make one feel not so crazy.
