| Anita Bårdsen March 18 | In the west many people have a very superficial and one-sided positive impression of Buddhism as a soft, mild, humanitarian religion where compassion and humanism stands stronger than in any other religion. Actually I would hesitate to call Buddhism a religion at all, rather a philosophy of life, since there is no God in Buddhism. The founder of Buddhism named Sidhartha Gauthama, referred to as "Buddha" "Spiritual enlightened soul on a higher level in the reincarnation system above common souls"-though in the teachings of Buddhism its a goal for everyone to become a Buddha- that is the stage before reaching the level of "Nirvana" where the founder of Buddhism- The first "enlightened" that "showed others "the way" by his teachings is consider to be on a even higher level above "Nirvana"- where only the very few "Special, extraordinary high, good, wise and noble souls that has earned it" has a chance to enter, kind of like "A heaven" for the few "Divine" grew up in the already founded Hindu-tradition, culturally implemented with the idea of reincarnation as an "eternal, unquestionable fact" all humans where captured by in an eternal cycle of life, death and rebirth. According to the Myth Sidhartha Gautama was an Indian Prince born 540 years before Christ (According to the Christian tradition where Jesus Christ supposedly was born in year O according to the Gregorian Calendar we still use in the West and most of the world imposed by Pope Gregor in 1582 according to his Calendar that is our Calendar today.) He grew up in a palace and lived a protected, pleasurable life in luxury cut off from the world and society outside where common poor people had their life and new nothing about the hard facts of reality. | | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
