Have your AI design your slidesRunning out of time but want a swish deck to present? Fear not; tools like Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT are really good at this.
Running out of time to do everything, but still want a decent deck of slides, if possible, even good-looking ones? In my experience, this is a good use of AI. And in contrast to even last year, AI is now pretty good at this. But like all things AI, they do often look AI. In what way, you may ask? AI-generated slides tend to be a bit overengineered, with many different elements on the slides. If you try to animate them, it is a bit crazy, because boxes, circles, numbers and text will all be layered on top of each other in different colours. AI also manages to put an impressive amount of information on a slide - often well organised with offset boxes, but definitely often more than I would put on a slide. As I use Claude, I recognise Claude slides. They look professional in a very Claude way. It’s like a smarter Manus, which is a tool I tried last year when the main Chatbots were not so impressive yet. If you want your slides to be really visually interesting and look less corporate, go with Gemini. I’ve found it impressive, but in a way that unfortunately does not save me time. That’s maybe not a given, and just reflects my slightly obsessive personality. Solving the not enough time problemIt’s fun to do talks and presentations. I accept too many of them. It also helps to have pretty slides with students. At least three of them might pay slightly more attention if they sense that you have a degree of technical competence. So this post will give you at least two surefire and quick approaches to either jazz up or directly create your slide deck with AI. Also, what you can upload and what you should not upload. Of course, always check the results. Don’t meat proxy this one (or anything else). You're currently a free subscriber to History in Organizations. For the full experience, upgrade your subscription.
