"A Dream Is A Wish That Your Heart Makes," is a well-known life lesson sung beautifully in the original Cinderella movie. Another comedic life lesson that we all know well from the original and now the 2021 Amazon version is "don't run in glass slippers or else." I recently watched the new 2021 Cinderella movie on Amazon Prime which stars Camilla Cabello as Cinderella. I really enjoyed watching this modernized retelling of the popular story with my mom. This version of Cinderella really provokes movie watchers' emotions in a positive way. You can feel the emotions of all the characters through the compelling plot and the alluring modern songs. I really enjoyed watching the characters sing these songs. The songs that really stood out to me were "Somebody to Love," "Am I Wrong," "Perfect," "Whatta Man/Seven Nation Army," "Dream Girl," "Million to One/Could've Been Me," "Let's Get Loud" and "Material Girl." Even though Cinderella is a movie lover's classic I really enjoyed how the characters worked together while singing to give it a revamped modernized twist. There were also sometimes song mashups between the characters which were very intriguing to hear. All the songs were very diverse and exhilarating.

Even though this was Cabello's first time acting I couldn't tell. She really was exceptional while she was putting herself in Cinderella's glass slippers. Cabello's singing throughout the whole movie was beautiful. Her voice was very angelic, it had a very soft and precious tone. I absolutely adore the song "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran and I especially love the music video for it. I was amazed when I saw that Cabello was singing it with Galitzine. During the song, Cabello was wearing a gorgeous white dress with silver sparkles, and her hair was styled in a loose braid along her back with pretty flowers in it. Both their singing and dancing was very captivating. I really thought that it was adorable when Galitzine twirled and lifted Cabello in the air when they were dancing. There are numerous popular actors that play crucial roles such as Idina Menzel, James Corden, Nicholas Galitizine, Billy Porter, and Talluah Greive. I did not expect to see James Corden in this movie but it was a very pleasant surprise. Cordan's character portrayed a mouse which brought lots of amusement and comedic relief. My mom and I were always laughing together when Cordan was on the screen.
Another scene that really stood out to me was when Galitzine was singing "Somebody to Love" with the guards about ironically finding himself someone to love. It was a funny scene to watch because at the end of the scene Cabello is shown sitting on top of a statue and she gets into trouble from the King. This is the first time that Galitzine's character first notices Cabello and he starts to admire her. Cabello doesn't realize that she is the one that Galitzine will fall in love with while she is making jokes about standing out to everyone there.
"Oh Good! Everyone's staring at me just as I'd hoped. I'm sorry. Your highness. It's just really hard to see in the back. Might I suggest you put some bleachers back there. Give us short peasants a chance," says Cabello jokingly. Galitzine after laughs at Cabello while the King yells at her to get down from the statue.
While watching this movie I realized that in today's world it is important to always be inclusive and celebrate how everyone is unique in their own ways. When looking at this movie from an intersectional approach it was exceptional because it consisted of all different races, genders, and classes within the storyline and the actors that were playing the characters. I think that it was important that the movie was like this because it helps movie watchers connect with the characters better and realize that they are just like you. I strongly believe that this is one of the biggest takeaways from this movie. Enjoy this movie on Amazon Prime!
