In her new series Shorts Alice writes and laughs in a way that would definitely have seen her burnt at the stake if she had loved 400 years ago. Part 6 explores an abusive relationship at the start when it's fun. Best bit: It's only ever over the edge that we - have to - call it abuse. When I've lost. After the fall as red flags flutter down and land on me.
Two jokers
In the pack we're both jokers. Out of the pack we're nothing really. People left us out and that's why we ended up in this tattered box of a house with a couple of packs of rizlas, fake hand cuffs and an abundant ashtray.
We don't call it abuse - yet - because two jokers make mischief together at the start of the game. Now that we're in the game I'm sure I have enough tricks to keep you interested - for now. It's only when you take off that funny pointy hat and the bells fall silent that we'll - have to - call it abuse. But - for now - it's all shits and giggles. You and me against the world!
We're wildcards. We dare each other to go further. It's just the two of us in this court we built to make us feel more important and it's everything I've ever wanted. One on one. Joker on Joker. Red flag on red flag.
It's not abuse - yet. I's dark fun. It's on the edges. We're edgy and cool! Look at us! It's only ever over the edge that we - have to - call it abuse. When I've lost. After the fall as red flags flutter down and land on me.
For the moment - we dance on the edge in funny tights n' boots and the sound of the - wedding - bells gives us crooked grins. Let's play on, away from the pack. You're all I need for now.
