It is the last Saturday of June and I have a full day. I started with going t the gym for a light workout and a shower, yes still no water heater. Turns out electricians don't work on weekends and I didn't want to take a day off work so I have an electrician coming Tuesday at 4:30pm to change my breaker and check the wires. If everything goes well hopefully next Saturday I can have my new hot water heater installed. It was my normal Saturday morning though, after the gum COSTCO for gas and stopped at the Starbucks nearby to post my blog from Wednesday night dinner two weeks ago and last Saturday, I had actually written them but forgot to post them, I also posted I would be at the Escape tonight. I got home about 10:30 and started getting ready for my day.
Today I am going to the Funeral of Joyce Colson. I didn't know her well as she was part of the Northwest Gender Alliance and not the Rose City t-girls but we had members in common and I did meet her 10+ years ago and got to know her a little and did go to one of her BBQ's several years back. Our group has lost 10 members that we know of and it is always sad and I wanted to attend to show support and also represent our group. As I said we do have members who belong to both groups, Cindi, Alice, Jan & Lynn and probably a few more. The funeral was at 1pm in NE Portland. I was on my way a little after noon. I got there about 12:40 and went in. I knew several of the girls here as I mentioned Cindi who is not only in our group but is the current president of the Northwest Gender Alliance and her wife Alice, Jan and Allana from our group was also here and I did know Jackie also a few others not by name. I would say 60% were her family and relatives and the rest were from the Gender community. It was a very well-done service and Joyce was a very special person. Turns out she was not only very active in the Northwest Gender Alliance but very supportive of everyone in the gender community. Joyce and her wife on numerous occasions opened their home to those in the gender community going through hard times or facing homelessness. It was almost 3pm when I left and I did want to run home as I forgot my sweater and it can be cold in the Escape if they have the air conditioning on high.
It was just after 3:30 when I got home and my neighbor lady and her daughter were sitting outside at the end of their driveway so I just waved at them as I drove by as this is the neighbor who has talked to me about it years ago and has also met me a couple times in person as Susan. I went in and touched up my makeup and grabbed my sweater and left. I decided to stop by Starbucks right by my house for an hour and work on my blog from this past Wednesday nights diner. Now I wasn't sure if anyone else would be at the Escape tonight as I talked to Jan at the funeral and her and Lynn were not going and no one else had posted but I was hopeful. I stayed here till 5pm before leaving for the Escape.
I got to the Escape a little before 5:30pm and believe it or not it was lightly raining, I went in and they were not busy. I did have my computer and figured I would have dinner and hang out till 7 and see if anyone else showed up. I ordered dinner and finished up my blog from Wednesday night's dinner at Olive Garden. My dinner came out, yes their burger basket and as always it was really good. It was just after 6 when I finished when one of our girls from ten group arrived for dinner also, she was in boy node though. She ordered dinner and sat down and joined me. It was great to see her again as I have not seen her sense Diva Las Vegas last fall. It was nice to talk with her and catch up, turns out she is retiring the end of July so really close now, her work offered her and early retirement buyout and she took it. She is looking forward to it and hopefully she will maybe be able to join us for Wednesday night dinner as I can't remember the last one she made. We talked about retirement and I am hoping to retire in the next year or two. We also talked about Diva Las Vegas as she is planning on going as she will have lots a free time. I am also planning on going if I can get the time off, I put in my request for two weeks but being it is over the 1st of the month it is harder for me to get that off. Evan with just two of us it was nice as it gave us a chance to catch up and as it was before Karaoke it was quiet enough to talk easily. We also talked about the 4th of July which I have the day off, that is the start of the hot weather here, close to 90 that day and then the mid 90's through Monday.
Well no one else showed up and it was about 7:30 when we both paid our bills and called it a night. It was a nice surprise to see her again and it was a good day. I got home about 8pm and watched a little TV till it was tine to wash away my makeup and go to bed. Now I am looking forward to Sunday and a little Susan time.
