Too often we place unnecessary restrictions on ourselves, creating our own prison to escape. In this regard, a government is no different than an individual. Being an idealist limits our ability to adapt to our environment in the best, most effective manner possible. Asserting that only capitalist or socialist solutions are ever to be considered handcuffs our ability to survive. The truth is that every situation is its own problem that requires its own solution. When times are easy, during the feast, it is good to explore and experiment with theories and principles to discover how things work. However, as our environment begins to change more rapidly and we descend into famine, we will not survive if we limit our options for nothing but childish political idealism.
