The first Collin O'Mara TV Ad …

By Delaware Dem on August 27, 2024

... appeared on our televisions this afternoon (well, at least it is the first time I have seen it). And ... um... well, it is not from the O'Mara campaign itself.

It is from the Independent Expenditure PAC affiliated with the National Resource Defense Counsel (NRDC) Action Fund, called the NRDC Action Votes.

Here is the Ad, which you can judge for yourself, and below is the press release from the NRDC Action Votes PAC. Personnaly, I think it is too cute by half, but what do I know?

NRDC Action Votes today launched its first ad supporting Collin O'Mara, featuring local Delaware animals heralding O'Mara's strong record as an environmental and clean energy jobs champion. The 30 second video ad, "Real Deal" is just one part of a more than $500,000 environmental coalition push from NRDC Action Votes, the League of Conservation Voters, and the Environmental Defense Fund backing O'Mara.

Some of the Delaware animals stumping for Collin include several endangered Delaware species - a green tree frog, a hooded warbler, and a Delmarva fox squirrel who have benefited from Collin's efforts as Governor Markell's Secretary of Natural Resources and Environmental Control to reduce air pollution and secure millions for clean water and other conservation efforts.

"Collin O'Mara has stood up to big polluters and while animals have benefitted – it was and is for the people of Delaware," said Jocelyn Steinberg, Director of NRDC Action Votes. "Voters don't want to hear from career politicians talking about who lined their own campaign coffers and pockets the most by working for special interests instead of the real people of Delaware. They want a governor who they can trust to make housing, healthcare, and childcare more affordable. By leading The Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub to make Delaware a leader in clean energy, Collin O'Mara has proven he can be trusted by labor and environmentalists to fight for good paying jobs and protect the natural wildlife that makes Delaware a special place for families."

As CEO of the National Wildlife Federation, America's largest grassroots conservation organization with 7 million members, Collin O'Mara played a critical role in helping pass the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Great American Outdoors Act, and the Delaware River Basin Conservation Act. He has helped secure hundreds of millions of dollars for Delaware to advance environmental justice, natural resource restoration, clean water, community resilience, and clean energy investments, including the recently announced Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub that will create thousands of union jobs in Delaware.

Prior to his service at the National Wildlife Federation, O'Mara was the Secretary of Natural Resources and Environmental Control from 2009-2014 under Governor Jack Markell, Collin led one of the most active periods in the 50-year history of DNREC, achieving reductions in air pollution that led the nation, enacting statewide recycling, bolstering climate resilience, building clean energy, and expanding public trails, parks, and wildlife refuges.

NRDC Action Votes is an independent expenditure political committee affiliated with the NRDC Action Fund. It works to avert dangerous climate change, support healthy people and thriving communities, and conserve and protect nature and wildlife.
