So Exhibit A, whom I shall just call "Misogynistic Lunkhead," recently suggested that women vote for vibes whereas men vote for policy. "Exhibit A" is actually the managing editor of the Babylon Bee, AKA, Joel Berry.
So here's how that works, if more than half the voting population simply "votes for vibes," might it not be totally irrational to roam about the intertoobz constantly dumping bad vibes on your voting base??!
Just saying, might not be your best move. Kind of irrational, if you ask me...
I don't get offended easily nor do I really care about misogyny, but after a while it sure does get tiresome watching so many "Christian conservatives" relentlessly denigrate women on the internet. I live in a dark blue state full of men, and yes, some of them do pretend they are women, but you can trust me on this, they surely aren't voting based on "rational choices and good policy." In fact, 95% of the poor choices and irrational policies here were actually written by MEN in elected office!
Anyway, two recent President Trump policies that I am highly in favor of, revoking and eliminating the tip tax and revoking an eliminating the tax on social security. Amen to both of those!
Tip taxes are a huge injustice and I say this as somebody who has had to help support a family off of nothing but tips. Some of us didn't even get a paycheck on account of the fact that it all went to tip taxes. Even worse, some of us have even owed the house money on payday, because our wages were just not enough to cover all the payroll taxes! To add insult to injury, one of the only ways to verify how much you received in tips is by your sales. So did that table even leave you a tip?! Nobody cares, it is assumed you got 15% and that is what you are taxed on. Yep, servers often even get to pay taxes on money they never even received.
President Trump has said he will get rid of the tip tax.
Which brings me to taxing social security. I believe we can blame this abomination on President Reagan, but today when you retire, if you earn any other income, up to half your social security benefits can be taxable. Yes, you now get to pay income taxes on the same social security benefits they went and took out of your paychecks all your life. When the government gives it back to you in the form of a SS benefit, up to half of it is now treated as taxable income.
Nobody should ever have to pay taxes on social security, but if you have lots of other investments and a good income, at least it is doable. Now consider a poor widow collecting 600 a month in social security benefits and bagging groceries full time just to try to make ends meet. She better pay attention and keep her income below the thresh hold or she's going to have an extra tax bill to pay. (Oh, and that 600 a month was once 850 a month, but today we also get to pay mandatory medicare premiums. Never mind that you already contributed to medicare out of your paychecks for your entire life. )
President Trump has said he wants to get rid of the income tax on social security.
So here's how my squishy, slightly stupid, female brain works when it comes to, "voting for vibes." When everything that comes out of your mouth just makes me want to punch you in the head, I consider those "bad vibes." When you offer me something that demonstrates you actually "get it," I call those "good vibes." I do indeed, vote for "good vibes." Nobody really wants to walk around all day feeling like punching people in the head.....
Unlike 75% of the twits on "Conservative Christian X," President Trump actually consistently gives me "good vibes" when it comes to policy concepts that will actually benefit real people.
