I spoke to my yard man today. He said: "I see they nailed that son-of-bitch Trump. In my book, paying off a porn star isn't very presidential."
Nor in my book.
Jamie O wrote a swell post this morning about pundit hand-wringing over the indictment. They can go fuck themselves, especially that mook Peter Baker.
I believe that charging decisions should come down to this: If Joe or Josephine Blow did it, would they be indicted? In a word: Yes.
Trump's former Fixer Michael Cohen has already served jail time for the porn star payoff. The rule of law may not always be applied equally but it is in this case thanks to Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.
Trump's downfall is down to his own stupidity and avarice. If he hadn't tried to write this off as a campaign expense, there wouldn't have been any charges. It's not illegal to pay off a porn star. It's merely sordid.
The Republican reaction has been predictable and deeply stupid. Even Gov. D Duce Wannabe has hopped back on the Trump train with this banal tweet:
Poor George Soros. His name has been turned into a code word for antisemitic creeps like the Florida Man and his frenemy from Queens.
By all accounts, the Indicted Impeached Insult Comedian plans to surrender voluntarily. He's hoping to turn it into a spectacle like this:
The indictment remains under seal until next week. Tuesday will be the big day. I am, however, not adding Arraigned to my newly expanded Trump nickname.
For those solemn types telling people not to celebrate, slow your roll. I was a young adult when Tricky Dick resigned and there was plenty of celebrating.
I was in Athens, Greece when it happened. I wandered over to Syntagma Square where a spontaneous rally had started. The Greek Junta had recently fallen so we celebrated that and the demise of Nixon who had supported the Colonels.
I still hate writing about former President* Pennywise. But I like writing about the guy who Lawrence O'Donnell has long called:

This is an important and perilous time in our country's history. The Indicted Impeached Insult Comedian is trying to incite his most doltish supporters to violence. He's using racist and antisemitic buzz words to rile them up. Will it work? Beats the hell outta me. But it doesn't matter, it's time to stand firm and stand up to the Queens Man and his followers. It's the patriotic thing to do.
